Wrexham have applied to the Football League for special dispensation against their current transfer embargo.
With number 1 Andy Dibble out until February, the only goalkeeper with the club is Michael Jones, a 16-year-old, following departures by Matt Baker and Danny Evans.
Manager Denis Smith is hoping he will be able to bring in Xavi Valero who comes with good references.
The decision rests with the football league, but Smith hopes “they would look favourably on us in the circumstances.”
