Wrexham fans have come forward to allow Denis Smith to sign two new players following his pleas in the Daily Post.
Yesterday, two benefactors came forward to secure a short-term deal for Spanish striker Juan Ugarte, who has so far been playing for the team for nothing.
Club Director Dave Bennett had this to say: “I’ve been contacted by a businessman who has offered the necessary financial backing to sign striker Juan Ugarte on a short-term contract and Wrexham official supporters’ association says it can help if Denis wants to bring in another loan signing.”
That could very well be handy given the rumours earlier in the month that a Premier League team had offered players on loan. However it will remain to be seen whether or not Denis feels the need to bring anyone in with Jim Whitely, Brian Carey and Andy Dibble due back within a few weeks and Carlos Edwards not too long after that as well.
Smith has also reassured fans that the administrator who takes control of the club, likely to be confirmed as David Acland, will not be actively looking to offload the club’s players, in the knowledge that the club is already one of the smallest in the league.
