Keeper Shearer signs for Wrexham

Dean Saunders has secured his eighth summer signing as he confirmed the arrival of out-of-contract Scottish keeper Scott Shearer to Wrexham.The 29-year-old former Coventry City stopper, released by Wycombe after their League One relegation, has signed a two-year deal at the Racecourse.

Shearer will battle with Wales under-21 international Chris Maxwell to be Wrexham's number one goalkeeper.

Shearer could make his Wrexham debut in Tuesday's friendly at Nantwich Town.

The former Scotland B international, who has played almost 250 league games, was in the 2009 League Two team of the year when Wycombe Wanderers were promoted.

Shearer, who signed for the Adams Park club in 2007, played his last game for Wycombe against Yeovil Town on 6 February in a 4-1 defeat and was released at the end of the season.

He is now reunited with former Wycombe team-mate Dean Keates at the Blue Square Bet Premier club.
